GE Lighting's New Project for Energy Efficient Street- and Roadway Lighting
Intelligent, energy positive outdoor lighting installation with central control: get to know more about our new, exciting R&D project!
GE Lighting is currently developing an intelligent, energy positive outdoor lighting installation on the campus of the Research Institute for Technical Physics and Materials Science (MFA) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA) as part of a consortium that includes MTA's Institute for Computer Science and Control (SZTAKI) and the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME).
The installation features adaptive lighting, which means the luminaires increase illumination levels when vehicles or pedestrians pass by. Known as E+grid, the installation also uses solar energy, battery storage and energy management technology to allow the system to function off grid. Controls and sensors, including for weather data, are also part of the installation, which connects to a central computer where users can manage the system and collect valuable data.
Stay tuned - more information will follow in the next months!
