November, 2013 – The drivers of more than 30 million vehicles who pass through the Anchieta-Imigrantes system annually, and more than 66 million who use Carvalho Pinto roadway, can already notice a different lighting in five tunnels on these roadways, thanks to the more than 2700 LED projectors, which improve the level of lighting. Among the advantages of the GE Lighting LED technology, there are energy saving, improvement of visibility and elimination of interruptions on the roadways for the locations maintenance.
“With useful life about ten times higher than the sodium vapor projectors, the LED projectors reduce the lighting system failures, which reduces the possibility of accidents”, Luciano Rosito, sales manager at GE Lighting for Public Lighting and Government, explains. “The quality of the Brazilian roads evolved fast and lighting is a fundamental component of improvement”, he concluded.
The GE Lighting project encompasses tunnels 1 and 2 of the Anchieta roadway descendent lane. For Imigrantes, the lighting is in tunnels 10 and 11 of the ascending lane. On Carvalho Pinto, the company was responsible for tunnels 01, located at km 75.5 (East and West direction). The GE LED T250 projectors, especially designed for this type of application, guarantee savings of up to 50% in relation to the sodium vapor projectors, used before. In addition, at all tunnel entrances and exits there are projectors and the known lamps GE LED Cobrahead model ERS4 will be installed, a technology which allows increasing the lighting level to 40 lux, reducing the shock with the natural lighting during the day.
Ecovias and Ecopistas, concessionaries of Ecorodovias group, which operates the roadways that connect the capital to Seashore of the State of São Paulo, have performed constant investments to improve their users' travel. The contributions contemplate the renewal of the lighting in the tunnels, guaranteeing reduction of the electric power consumption and higher safety in the sections.
